304L Stainless Steel Pipe

304L stainless steel is also known as ultra-low carbon stainless steel, the lower carbon content makes the precipitation of carbides in the heat affected zone near the weld to minimize, and the precipitation of carbides may lead to corrosion of stainless steel in some environments. By lowering the carbon content, 304L stainless steel ensures better performance in corrosive environments. The mechanical properties of 304L stainless steel are well-suited for demanding applications. With a tensile strength of around 485 MPa (70,000 psi), it demonstrates moderate-to-high resistance to pulling forces, ensuring structural integrity under stress. Its yield strength of about 170 MPa (25,000 psi) means it can bend and reshape easily without breaking. The elongation of 40% in 50 mm shows its remarkable ductility, allowing the material to stretch significantly without breaking. Additionally, with a hardness of about 70 on the Rockwell B scale, 304L stainless steel is tough enough to resist wear and tear while still being soft enough for ease of machining and fabrication.
