Construction Points Of Weathering Steel

1. Corrosion of welding points: The oxidation rate of welding points must be the same as that of other materials, which requires special welding materials and techniques. Special attention should be paid to selecting special welding rods that are similar in chemical composition to weathering steel and match strength and toughness.
2. Water corrosion: Weathering steel is not stainless steel. If there is water in the low recesses of the weathering steel, the corrosion rate there will become faster. Therefore, attention must be paid to drainage during construction.
3. Salt-rich air environment: Weathering steel is more sensitive to salt-rich air environment. In such an environment, the surface protective film may not prevent further internal oxidation.
4. Construction temperature: Too low (less than 5 degrees) or too high (over 35 degrees) high temperature exposure on the surface of weathering steel workpieces will have adverse effects on the rust-forming effect.
5. One thing to note is that the rust layer on the surface of weathering steel can make the surfaces of nearby objects rusty.
